Scrappy String Block Pole Twist Quilt by Celeste Gannon

The Scrappy String Block Pole Twist Quilt Pattern by Paco's Crafty Creations is a delightful project that combines the charm of scrappy quilting with the dynamic movement of a twisted ribbon design. This pattern utilizes 90 half-square triangles (HSTs) crafted from string blocks, arranged in a 9 HST across by 10 HST down layout, resulting in a finished quilt measuring approximately 84" x 91" with three borders.

To create this quilt, you'll need 45 dark and 45 light string blocks, each measuring 8½" x 8½". These blocks are then sub-cut diagonally, aligning the cut direction with the strings, to form the HSTs essential for the pole twist pattern. The second border incorporates roughly 40 rectangular string blocks measuring 8½" x 5½", while borders one and three require about 1¼ yards of neutral fabric, which can be made scrappy by piecing together strips from different yardage.

This pattern not only offers a fantastic opportunity to utilize fabric scraps but also results in a visually striking quilt that showcases the beauty of string blocks in a twisted ribbon arrangement.
