Merino Mohair V-Neck

Image
Merino Mohair V-Neck If you have ever purchased hand dyed yarns, you will notice that they usually suggest using two skeins at a time and alternate skeins every two rows to create an even colour fabric. I picked up four skeins of Merino Angel when I was in Nova Scotia in June. The colours of the skeins were similar, but definitely different. This sweater uses two skeins at a time and decided to “colour block” them… Half of the front is one skein and the other half another, then when the blocks were approximately square, I switched the sides, and used the same skeins on the other half. I repeated once more before the piece was full length. The close up photo at the bottom shows the place where the colours change. It is subtle, but I like the effect and it is a much more even way of mixing odd colours. Click here for Get Pattern

Quick Knit Socks - Free Pattern

Image
Quick Knit Socks This sock pattern was developed when I found myself with too many single or three-quarter balls of excellent self pattern sock yarn, and a list of people who needed socks for Christmas. It involves using 2 strands held together and changing one of the strands (if necessary) over the heel and toe. Click here for Get Pattern

Magic Mirror socks

Image
When I started these socks, I wanted a sock pattern that was not symmetrical on each foot, but one that mirrored the other foot. I ended up using this large zig-zag and filling the side spaces with different textures. My Magic Mirror socks were knit using magic loop and two at the same time. For clarity and ease, I'm writing the pattern for one sock at a time on magic loop. The pictured sock is the medium size and fits my 7.5-8 (US) sized feet. Click here for Get Pattern

Jericho Knit Baby Blanket

Image
Jericho Knit Baby Blanket This blanket uses the same start in the center and work your way out construction as my lotus and stripe seven baby blankets. I love this construction because you it’s very forgiving if you’re off gauge or are unsure about the amount of yarn you have. You just start knitting and bind off when you start running low or are sick of working on it. Click here for Get Pattern
